Every year I look forward to all of the festivities of the holiday season, and this year Tyler and I started a new tradition, making the trip up the mountain for a snow day with some close friends!
We went to the The Summit at Snoqualmie, which is about an hour outside of the city. So depending on how you look it this post is a little bit travel, a little bit "Seattle Spotlight"! Either way, we had a blast and I wholeheartedly recommend anyone living in Washington take a day trip at some point this winter.
Our original plan was to go to the tubing hill, where you can rent a tube and use the lift the a couple hours, but we ended up getting there after the spots were all sold for the day. Luckily we were able to buy a couple of sleds from the shop and found a quiet hillside nearby! Turns out cheap sleds and boys in their 20's aren't the best combination, since we left with 2 out of 2 sleds broken at the end of the day, but it was worth it for the laughs when you heard a sled crack halfway down the hill.
After sledding for a couple hours we decided to head back down to warm up and grab some cheap appetizers at Applebee's. It was a great way to catch up with our friends and I can't wait to try and make the trip again next winter when everyone is in town for the holidays again!
As for what to wear, I was totally unprepared for snow up until a couple days before. I'll link everything we wore below!
If you're looking for boots, I loved this millenial pink pair of Sperrys and Tyler thought his men's pair was comfy and warm as well. My coat was on sale for under $40 at Target, but unfortunately it looks like it's sold out online -- I've linked a few Uniqlo puffers that my coworkers have and rave about! From what I've seen there are still tons in-store, so if your heart is set on the icy blue one I'm wearing I'd definitely check the women's section at your local Target. I also wasn't able to find my exact scarf since I got it from a holiday market, but the Express scarf I linked looks like a close match.
