I just want to say that I love my friends. All of them, and a lot. I am lucky enough to have made two of my best friends in elementary school, and I'm still very close with the group we hung out with all through high school. Inside jokes from the 9th grade have yet to die out (even if they should), and we get together as often as we can to eat pie and drink Mountain Dew at the Shari's near my great grandma's house. I wouldn't trade those nights for anything in the world.
I'm always super proud of my friends and I brag about them constantly, especially now that they are all off doing stuff that really matters. This past week Brittany did the ultimate thing to be proud of, and I feel like the Leslie Knope to her Ann Perkins as I run around telling the world how my poetic noble land mermaid got into a PhD program at one of the top grad schools.
For as long as I can remember Brittany has been passionate about two things: teaching others, and saving the world. I'm pretty sure CalTech will be the perfect combination of both, since she will get to continue studying renewable energy in a research lab and I assume will TA some engineering courses along the way. When she told me she was applying for grad schools I wasn't surprised at all, and I'm so excited that she is getting this opportunity.
Plus it helps that I will now have an excuse to fly to California on the weekends!
