This week Tyler and I decided to make a sorta-spontaneous-one-day-only trip to Portland to check a few things off my bucket list. I've always wanted to indulge the compulsive book buyer in me and explore Powell's City of Books, and Tyler has never been one to say no to a stop for crazy doughnuts. So, about an hour behind schedule we loaded into the car with a playlist of Taylor Swift for me (duh) and comedy routines for him, and began our first road trip together. Portland was wonderful, and it didn't take long for me to pick out more books than I could possibly afford before narrowing it down to a select four. Including the British edition of my favorite Harry Potter book, The Prisoner of Azkaban, which I spent six weeks in London looking for. And for every book I didn't buy, it seemed like we got a doughnut in its place. Next to me sits a box that once held a bakers dozen of Voodoo, that I imagine will only last us a couple more days.
When it came to preparing for the trip, some part of me wanted to be extra colorful. As someone who wears exclusively black and outfits that go with black, this was a very new and almost alarming feeling. But I let myself abandon my favorite color for one day, and instead picked out something bright and summery. Upon arrival at Portland's International Rose Test Garden, I discovered this cutesy pair of sunglasses for only $6. I ignored Tyler telling me I "looked like a grandma dork" and bought them anyway.
