This past weekend I got to go with Tyler and his mom to Lake Tahoe for his last hockey tournament with UW. I had never been there before and although Ty had gone several times with the team, he hadn't really explored the area. Since he didn't have a game Friday we took the day as an opportunity to walk around and see what Tahoe had to offer. The local soda shop was definitely our favorite part and after checking out flavors like ranch dressing and bacon, we settled on some more conventional options. I enjoyed my peach flavor, and Tyler's cookies and cream was essentially just an extra sweet cream soda.
Overall the trip to Tahoe was super fun, and a nice break from the repetition of my school schedule. The only downside was getting home after mudslides caused road closures that prevented us from getting to the airport. We ended up driving for nearly 6 hours before making it to a hotel for the night, and were lucky enough to catch a flight first thing in the morning.
After more than 4 years of watching Tyler's games, it's weird to think that this weekend was the last. I am so used to the practice schedule, the travel weekends, and the nights at the rink. It will probably take some adjustment to get used to.
