"What’s Galentine’s Day? Oh, it’s only the best day of the year." - Leslie Knope
February is the month of love, and in my opinion there is nothing better than supportive female friendships! Galentine's Day is a celebration of that love and support and the perfect excuse to gather your girls for a day of pampering, a cute brunch, or a bff date night. I wholeheartedly believe that behind every strong woman are strong women, and I'm so grateful for all my girls - especially my fellow Seattle bloggers. These 3 ladies (Lashonya, Amy, and Alex) are so lovely and make #communityovercompetition a reality! Setting up our Galentine's Day "Styled Shoot" made for such a fun day, from decorating the GRLS studio in Tacoma to getting to work with a professional photographer and florist for the first time (shout out to Vetiver Designs and Swolfe Photography ?) We all have very different personal styles, so it was exciting to lay all our pieces out on the floor and choose our looks together. Normally I make a mess of my room trying to figure out what to wear, and resort to asking Tyler his opinion ? It was a nice change having my fashionable friends around to help with those decisions! Another plus is that Valentine's colors are 100% my personal aesthetic - there was no shortage of possible outfit combos in my closet. We also made sure to cover a variety of occasions, with looks ranging from casual denim to dressy lace! I'm still smiling looking at all the photos and thinking about how perfectly everything came together for this shoot! Everyone had a vision and they blended together for our dream Galentine's Day. A highlight for me were the gorgeous flower crowns by Vetiver Designs ?In my ideal world I would get to wear a flower crown everyday, but I'll settle for the fairy princess feeling I had during our shoot. Whether you're planning a Galentine's Day event of your own, or are just looking for that perfect date night look I hope this post can help! I've linked our looks (and similar pieces for those that are sold out) below, along with some fun party decor:

When I decided I wanted to revive my blog about a year and half ago, I never expected that I would find such a strong community of women! In college I considered my blog to be deeply personal, but since graduation I've found that it's allowed me to connect with so many other ladies who share the same love of fashion.
On Saturday one local group, Seattle Girl Bosses celebrated their 1st birthday with the dreamiest garden party at Green Lake! Not only was the decor gorgeous and the food tasty, but it was the perfect setting to make new friends and catch up with other bloggers. This event wouldn't have been made possible without the vision of Marellen, and the help of all the talented women who sponsored the party:
Be sure to check out all these awesome female-ran companies for your next event! I'm already brainstorming ideas for my birthday party 😍 This past weekend I got to celebrate my 23rd birthday with some of my closest friends, and I still can't help but smile when I think about the day.
I've been wanting to throw a party for awhile now, and have been collecting DIY ideas for months, so when Studio Pep contacted me to collaborate for my birthday I was so excited! I've been follow them on Instagram and was totally in love with their confetti and balloons - having some for my own party was a dream come true. Not to mention the fact that the colors matched Target's party line perfectly! It was exactly the jumping off point I needed to plan the rest of my decor, while still staying on budget. After finding out the lounge in my apartment building doesn't allow you to hang decorations, I had to change my plans a bit. My mom's new home was the best option, because there is plenty of space and white exposed-brick that seemed like an obvious choice for a photo booth. As for the treats, baking has never been my forte, but I've recently started trying out recipes on the weekends in order to get better. I'm lucky to that my stepmom Alexis is an excellent baker and agreed to help me with some of the desserts I wasn't brave enough to try before. She definitely did most of the heavy lifting, but I can claim some of the more lopsided macarons as my work. I'm also pretty proud of the naked funfetti cake, which I decorated! In case you're interested in making any of these goodies yourself, here are the recipes we used:
I also made the llama piñata (inspired by this Oh Happy Day post) , which is probably the thing I'm most proud of. There were tons of questions on how I did it, so expect a tutorial post soon! Ultimately though, it wasn't just decor and snacks that made this day so great. I am so grateful for all of my friends who drove out of their way to celebrate with me, and who are always so supportive of this blog and my creative endeavors. I got so lucky with each of you, there is no one else I would rather play Catch Phrase with on a Sunday afternoon. I guess Blink 182 was wrong - someone does like me when I'm 23. |
