What outfit isn't made better after accessorizing? Today I'm teaming up with Ruby Olive to style their awesome jewelry for these chillier days! If you like statement pieces be sure to check out their website for some funky earrings like the ones I'm wearing here (mine are the "white multi")! Everything I ordered was surprisingly light weight, and their aesthetic is fun and bright all year round.
In the winter and fall it can be difficult to find clothes that feel my style. I'm all about the cozy sweaters and giant blanket scarves, but I love them even more when they're colorful! When I first saw this Marlowe Boutique cardigan on instagram I knew I had to have it, and it's been a staple in my closet ever since - whether I'm wrapped up in it at work, or staying warm during my Christmas shopping trips. The texture goes perfectly with these earrings and gives a whimsical vibe that I really like!
Expect to see more of my Ruby Olive accessories in the future, and in the mean time be sure to browse their collection here.
You might not know this about me since I rarely wear them when styling my shoots, but I love glasses. In elementary school I wanted them so badly that I convinced my mom to buy me a fake pair from Claire's. I wore them everyday in the 4th grade until they broke in a highly competitive game of Red Rover during recess! Then in the 6th grade I started noticing how difficult it was to see from the back row, and finally got my first real pair.
Glasses are a great way to express your style, and although I usually opt for contacts now I still like to have a couple trendy pairs for when I feel like mixing things up!
Most recently I discovered discountglasses.com, which had huge savings from the cost of purchasing from the doctor's office, and a much larger variety of frames. I already had a more classic style, so I decided it was time to go a little crazy with the color!
These hot pink frames were perfect, since I'm always trying to find a way to incorporate bright shades into my fall wardrobe. Plus the ordering process was so easy, and they were delivered right to my door!
If you're looking for some new specs be sure to check out Discount Glasses!
These glasses were provided at no cost in exchange for my review, however all opinions are my own.
Did you know October 11th is a national holiday? Spread Joy Day!
We can all use a little extra joy, which is why Knack, a Seattle-based gift giving company, created the holiday! They understand that positivity is extra important in 2018, so this year they're celebrating by giving 1,000 free gifts.
Each gift ships in a gorgeous box with a personalized note, and includes high quality products. My favorite was the pack of greeting cards, which I've been passing along to spread the joy even further! Tyler was a big fan of the chocolates (as I knew he would be) and I can't wait to wake up with some hot tea this weekend.
Overall I was super impressed with my Knack box, especially with the presentation! Everything was so pretty, and the unboxing experience was so fun. If you want to spread the joy, click here to head to Knack to send a free box!
Since jeans are such an important staple piece, it's really important to me that I feel confident in them! Shopping for the perfect fit can be so difficult for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way. Similar to swimsuits, it can be discouraging to try on pair after pair hoping to find one that will finally look just right. But when you do find that perfect pair, it can be so exciting!
I know when I've got a good thing going, which is why I've been turning to American Eagle for my denim since middle school. Back then I looked at fashion as something that let me fit in with others, by wearing popular brands and trends even when they didn't feel like me. Luckily I've figured some things out since then. Now fashion is an important part of how I express myself, and I gravitate towards trends that speak to my personal style! Sometimes that means stepping outside of my comfort zone to try something new. Having the perfect pair of AE jeans makes me feel fearless when I'm trying a bold shoe or a unique top!
For this look I went with asoft yellow top from American Eagle, that has the cutest embroidery and bow details. While the chunky Forever 21 heels weren't my smartest pick for the cobblestone streets of Pike Place, I loved how they were able to dress up an otherwise more casual look and bring out the flirty feeling of the shirt!
If you're interested in any of the pieces from my look be sure to check them out below, and follow me on LIKEtoKNOW.it to stay up to date.
Thank you to American Eagle for collaborating on this post! I received the jeans and top at no cost, in exchange for my honest review.
It's almost the 4th of July, and fireworks are just around the corner! And a day off right in the middle of the work week?? It's safe to say I'm super excited to spend the holiday on the lake , firecracker popsicle in hand 🙌
This year I'm teaming up with my friends at Bird + Stone to celebrate Independence Day in style with their latest cuff. Bird + Stone knows that the founding fathers wanted to build a country with democracy as its foundation, and in the words of Angelica Schuyler, it’s time to “include women in the sequel” *work!*
That’s why Bird + Stone decided to dedicate their newest accessory to women in politics. For every purchase of the “Who Run the World?” set, they will donate 10% of the cost to She Should Run “to expand the talent pool of women running for office, close the gender gap in politics by getting 250,000 women to run by 2030, and provide community, resources, and growth opportunities for aspiring political leaders”!
Even in 2018, women are dramatically underrepresented in politics. We make up 50.8% of the population, but only 20% of congress (the Center for American Women and Politics has a great tool for seeing these numbers broken down for all political offices, that you can check out here). It’s difficult for legislation to accurately reflect our country’s needs when half of citizens don’t see themselves reflected in the politicians themselves.
Luckily, more women are running for office than ever!
According to the New Yorker, as of April, 472 women had entered the race for the House of Representatives and 57 in the Senate. In 2012, that number was 298, and 36 respectively. The article also mentions the diversity of these women, saying “This year’s wave of female candidates has some striking features besides its sheer size. There is also a great deal of diversity within the group. It includes more women of color than previous electoral years, as well as a number of immigrants.”
You can see the full list of female candidates here.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg is famously quoted saying “There will be enough women on the Supreme Court when there are nine”. Men have unevenly represented this country for decades, so why is the idea of an all-female court so radical? It’s time for our government to represent our population, and time for women to close the gender gap in politics.
Because who runs the world? GIRLS
Thank you to Bird + Stone for collaborating on this post! You can purchase your own set of Who Run the World cuffs here, and learn more about the She Should Run program, or make a donation here! To read my previous post featuring Bird + Stone, click here.
