I'm sure that I'm not alone in being glad to put 2017 behind me. This year I experienced several major life changes, including graduating college and hunting for a new job. A lot was uncertain and the political unrest certainly didn't help. But when I really look at the specifics of the past year, I realize that there was quite a bit of good that happened. Focusing on all of these positive things makes me thankful for all of the experiences (good and bad).
In no particular order here are just a few of the little things that made me happy in 2017:
Looking back on all of this (and more) has made me really excited for 2018.
I am so excited to be reviewing these products from the L'Oreal Serie Expert line! I have been using them for about 3 weeks now and am super happy with the results so far.
Serie Expert is a collection of haircare that allows you to have salon-quality treatment from home. L'Oreal's line comes in several variations so that you can target your specific needs, and in this case I have been using products from the "nutrifier" collection.
I want to start by saying that if you are someone who takes a super speedy shower every morning, or prefers to avoid multiple steps in their routine, then these products may not be right for you.
The nourishing shampoo is pretty standard - just lather and rinse. The conditioner on the other hand is a bit more complicated. Because the step for conditioning uses a masque, you will need to towel dry and apply it to your hair before waiting 5 minutes to rinse out. I have a terrible sense of time, so I have to yell to Siri to put a timer on my phone. I can easily see how this would feel tedious if you're used to a fast pace in your everyday haircare. However, I typically take a longer shower at night, and unless I have been to the gym I will often opt for a relaxing bubblebath in order to avoid washing my hair everyday. Since I shampoo a maximum of 2-3 times a week, adding the additional time to the routine to condition hasn't bothered me. On the other hand, I'm used to a more standard conditioner and honestly might get tired of the step as time goes on.
I've also enjoyed using the styling product "Brush Proof" which is recommended with the collection. It's super easy and quick, which is always a motivator for me. All you do is spray the solution onto your brush before running it through your wet hair, in order to eliminate friction that would otherwise cause breakage. This is something I always have a problem with, and I feel like I'm constantly cleaning out my brush.
As for the last product, which is a leave-in balm, I honestly forget to use it. I'm terrible about doing additional steps once my hair is dry, even though I should probably use a heat protectant of some kind. Since I didn't see a noticeable difference the first time using the balm, I haven't gone out of my way to continue.
Overall I like the Serie Expert products I've been incorporating into my routine, and haven't had any issues with greasiness or heaviness in my hair since I started!

It's no secret that my favorite parts of any outfit are the accessories! My jewelry box is packed full of years worth of trendy pieces. Some of them I've worn over and over, while some I buy on impulse and never seem to find the right outfit to pair them with.
That's where Rocksbox comes in.
With Rocksbox you can try out the latest fads without spending a ton of money on something that you might never wear again! After creating your preference profile and wish list, you are paired with a stylist who curates a set of 3 pieces for you each month. They try to pull from your list whenever possible, but may also suggest pieces to you based on your taste.
Once you receive your Rocksbox set you can mix and match the jewelry as often as you want, then simply pack it back up and return using the original envelope and prepaid label. The process is so easy.
If you decide that you love the jewelry from your set, you have the option to purchase any of the pieces. Your membership fee is applied to the purchase - if you decide that you want all 3 items, an additional discount is added as well.

Sometimes buying gifts for the people on your list can be tricky, even when it comes to friends and family you know well. To make things a little easier for you, I've compiled a list of my 10 favorite gifts from $15-$100 so that you can finish shopping and enjoy the holiday season!
It's safe to say that my absolute favorite trend this season is a good statement sweater! From huge ruffles to crazy embellishments, they are everywhere right now.
I've found myself falling in love with so many different styles, and the other day a coworker asked me how many "shirts with wizard sleeves" I have. I mentally sifted through my closet and realized just how much the look was catching on with me. One example was the yellow ruffle sweater I had worn in Vancouver as well as this cute rose colored tie-sleeved sweater I recently picked up from F21.
The best part of this trend is how versatile it really is. You can easily style a sweater multiple ways, making it perfect for just about any situation. Whether you are meeting friends for a happy hour in a pair of ripped jeans or going on a date in a cute mini, you seriously can't go wrong.
Since my workplace is incredibly casual, I love wearing these statement pieces with dainty jewelry in order to look trendy but not overdressed. This is really important for me personally, since I don't feel like myself when I'm dressed down. And then after work, all I need to do is swap the smaller accessories for a pair of tassel earrings or a chunky jeweled necklace to be ready for a night out!
I'm really hoping this trend sticks around for awhile because I can't get enough. When I was out Christmas shopping I had to keep myself from heading to the dressing room in every store, so I've compiled a list of a few favorites - all under $80! Numbers 1 and 7 are definitely on my wish list.
What about you? Let me know what you think of the statement sweater trend in the comments and be sure to check out my faves below.
